Summary:
This program prepares the diabetes educator to deal with and better understand reimbursement issues related to new diabetes technology. While third party payment is not currently available for much of the new diabetes technology the diabetes educator can be an advocate to obtain this coverage. This program presents resources and strategic methods educators can use to help further third party coverage for new diabetes technologies.
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation participants will be able to:
- Identify resources available to persons and professionals using diabetes technology devices.
- Discuss potential reimbursement strategies for glucose testing supplies and devices.
- List
3 outcomes commonly considered by third party payers when
determining insurance reimbursement status.
