4 Ways to Recycle Your Old Paint and Their Cans

»Posted by on Mar 12, 2020 in Dumpster Rental | 0 comments

When people clean their garage, they are torn between tossing away the old materials like old paint cans or reusing them as what is recommended. But when they choose the latter, they are then plagued with the question, “what to do with the leftover paint and its cans?” If you are planning to clean your garage, you might be needing Lakeland Dumpster Rental to get rid of the other old and unusable things, but leave the recycling to your creativity. Good this is we will provide you some ideas on how to recycle your old pains and their cans.

How to reuse my old paint?

You can mix and reuse the latex paints. They can be blended and used although they do not give that pretty hue as what they could when they were new. You can also check some local municipalities, schools, or local haulers that may have programs to collect old paints. You can start there and donate your old paints. This is, by far, the most environmentally friendly and economical way to reuse some paint.

While latex paint can be recycled, oil-based paints cannot. There is only one option: to dispose of this as soon as you can. You need to follow certain regulations about oil-based point disposal; hence, you may contact your local Household Hazardous Waste facility. There are communities that offer drop-off days for these once or twice a year. You can also search through the Earth911.com for a safe place to dispose of these materials.

How can I recycle my cans?

There are a lot of creative ways to recycle some paint cans. You can consider doing the following:

1. Use them as trashcans/ trash bins

When you need an inexpensive and creative wastebasket for your room or guestroom, you can just wrap a rope and wind it around the old paint can. Make sure to clean the can before putting on a fabric rope.

2. Use them as hanging planters

When you like collecting herbs and flowers, you can use your small-sized cans as hanging planters. All you need to do is to clean the cans and paint the outside area for design. You can even use the old latex paint you currently have that you want to dispose of. You can directly use the can’s handle to hang them or you can just some screw and hook to hang then into the fence.

3. Use them as coat hooks

Small cans can be cleaned and be put on the front entry or the mudroom for unique, practical storage for coats, towels, etc. They provide an industrial and modern look when unpainted. Aside from being coat hooks, you can also put some small things inside like gloves and mittens.

4. Use them as organizers

All you need to do is to clean and decorate each can. You can use paint, a wrapping paper, or cloth if you prefer. Put these around the cans using a glue gun. From there, you now have some cans to organize different types of things you have in the office or your room.

Other ways to recycle them us by making them as flower pots, coin banks, vase, bird feeders, etc.
